Hi everyone, sorry for the community being a little quiet of late - I've been super-busy. BUT, the Easter hols are soon, and I have a big stock of videos, interviews and pictures to post, so I'm going to post a little more frequently in the next few weeks :)

But, to start off, I thought I'd post a little picspam of Carey at the Oscars. Unfortunately she missed out on taking the statuette home, but was charming and beautiful throughout regardless.

Some of the pictures are a little large, just fyi.Collapse )

So, it's Oscar night!

I'm not sure I hold out much hope of Carey picking up the award, as she's facing pretty stiff competitions - Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side), Helen Mirren (The Last Station), Gabourey Sidibe (Precious) & Meryl Streep (Julie and Julia) - and Sandra Bullock has been picking up awards left, right and centre. She did get the BAFTA though, so fingers crossed!

According to The Daily Record, she's taking her parents and brother to the ceremony, awwh!

Also, according to The Mail, all the Oscar nominees are at least going home with £61,000 worth of goodies. Lovely as it seems, I can't help thinking that's a rather phenomenal waste on money!

A few other bits: An Education won best foreign film [!!] at the Spirit Awards. I suppose England is technically 'foreign' to California, but I just expected the nomineed would be foreign language films!

The Fug Girls have created a Carey Mulligan vs. Anna Kendrick (nominated for best supporting actress for Up In The Air) fashion-off here, documenting their red-carpet looks so far in an effort to decide who is more likely to be better dressed at toight's ceremony. (Spoiler: Carey wins!)

And finally, thak you to the other people who have been posting here, it's great to see the community growing! :)

So, despite saying that she's planning on having a holiday pretty soon, Carey's looking to be pretty busy in the near future! From scouting around the internet (in particular, imdb), I thought I'd post a list of some films and shows she's got coming up in the future.

- Brighton Rock: the remake of the 1947 film of the same name (adapted from a novel by Graham Greene) is apparently in post production, though I can't see a release date about. It's a gangster-based story, updated and set in the mod/rocker period of the 1960s. I'm not sure who Carey's character is, but the film also stars Helen Mirren, John Hurt and Andrea Riseborough, so it looks like a pretty stellar cast.

- Never Let Me Go: Carey stars as Kathy opposite Kiera Knightley's Ruth and Andrew Garfield's Tommy (ohh, ginger!love) in a film about old public school friends reflecting on a dark shared history. No release date as yet.

- Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps: In the Oliver Stone direted gangster story, Carey plays the Winnie Gekko, the daughter of Michael Douglas' Gordon Gekko, and love interest of Shia LeBeouf's Jacob Moore (the two are dating in real life, too - that's Carey and Shia, not Carey and Michael). The release date is April 23rd.

- This Beautiful Fantastic - Described on imdb as 'A contemporary fairy tale revolving around the unlikely love affair between a shy children's book author and a wild inventor', this is one I'm personally very excited about. The premise sounds adorable, and it also stars Christopher Ecclestone (!!) and Joanna Lumley. Again, no release date as yet.

- The Electric Slide: Significantly more detai known about this one; Carey stars alongside Ewan McGregor (swoon!) as Jenny and Eddie, a pair of infamous bankrobbers.

That information is from here, which also features a poster for the film - near the bottom of the page.

- My Fair Lady: After Kiera Knightley dropped out of this remake, Carey was 'rumoured' to be filling her spot. However, in recent interviews, she has denied that she's involved. But you never know; since she had her hair cut short, quite a few people have been comparing her to Audrey Hepburn.

- Effie: Now, this one isn't on imdb as yet, but the same website as before [slightly more towards the middle of the page] has claimed with some certainty that Carey will be starring as the lead in the story of Effie, the downtrodden wife of renowned Victorian art critic John Ruskin. The film is to be written by, and also to star, Emma Thompson (ZOMG, Carey and Emma in the same film, I may combust).

Detailed synopsis under hereCollapse )

Hope that's of interest to you all - sorry for the ridiculous length of the post! :)

ALSO: If anybody has any Carey icons thay'd like to post, please go ahead - I for one am very much lacking! :)

Well, there's no better place to start for this community than with Carey's BAFTA win on Sunday!

I'm sure members will already be aware of this, but for anybody who isn't, carey picked up a BAFTA for Best Actress on Sunday 21st February - her performance as Jenny in An Education had been steeped in praise since its premiere at the end of last year, and many thought her likely to win - apart from Carey herself, who seemed genuinely shocked with her award!

Carey, clutching her BAFTA gleefully, wearing a Vionnet dress that earned her a 'Fug or Fab' on gofugyourself - praise indeed! :)

Under the cut I've embedded several videos from the night, including her acceptance speech, and various red carpet interviews. Enjoy!
